Subscriptions & Renewals

"Subscriber" is used to describe a user of a Jagex Product who pays a fee to obtain enhanced features of that Jagex Product.

We provide additional content and services to users who purchase a Subscription (a “Subscription”). You can find out what Subscription packages are currently available by checking the subscription page on the relevant product website. We may alter the packages on sale at any time. Unless you cancel prior to the end of your current Subscription term, your Subscription will automatically renew at the end of the current Subscription term.

We may take payment for the new Subscription term up to 72 hours before the expiry of your existing Subscription term to prevent any breaks in play. You can check the end date of your current Subscription term by logging into your Account at https://www.runescape.comarrow-up-right.

Membership subscriptions purchased for a character can be used by that character across both RuneScape and Old School.

If you apply for a Subscription, you must ensure all the information that you submit is true and accurate (including, without limitation, where requested, your credit/debit card number and expiration date, and other payment details) and that you have appropriate parental or guardian consent if you are under 18 years of age. You agree to pay all Subscription fees specified when you apply including all applicable taxes. By submitting your order, you are making an offer to subscribe to the relevant part of the Jagex Product. Your offer is accepted and a binding contract occurs when: (i) we send a message to your Account mail inbox or an email to your billing address confirming that your payment has been received, or (ii) you log into a Subscriber-only part of a Jagex Product (whichever comes first).

Where required by law, we will send you reminders before the last possible day when you may cancel your Subscription before it renews:

  • For monthly subscriptions, every 6 months we will send you a reminder at least 7 days before your Subscription renews.

  • For longer subscriptions, we will send you two reminders, at least 30 days and 7 days before your Subscription renews.

Key payment details

  1. Unless otherwise stated, all prices and Subscription fees shown for non-US countries include sales tax (including, but not limited to, VAT, GST, HST, QST and PST where relevant).

  2. If you purchase a Subscription or virtual content via a third-party platform e.g. Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Steam, you’ll be charged via the payment method stored by that third-party and your purchase will be subject to their terms and conditions.

  3. Payments made by credit/debit card are also subject to our credit/debit card termsarrow-up-right, which form part of these overall Subscription Terms; and the terms and conditions of the credit/debit card provider.

ALL SUBSCRIPTION PAYMENTS WILL CONTINUE TO BE TAKEN IN ADVANCE AT THE RELEVANT INTERVALS (E.G. MONTHLY IN THE CASE OF MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTIONS) UNTIL YOU CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION. RENEWAL PAYMENTS MAY BE TAKEN UP TO 72 HOURS BEFORE YOUR CURRENT SUBSCRIPTION PERIOD ENDS.

Subscription fee changes

We reserve the right to alter our Subscription fees at any time to reflect factors that influence the cost of the Subscription, upon reasonable notice subject to applicable law ("Changes"). These factors include production and distribution costs, the cost of support and ancillary services, costs of sales, the cost of third-party fees associated with provision of the service, administrative and other overhead costs, and government-imposed fees, taxes and contributions. We will post details of any changes to our Subscription fees on the relevant Jagex Product website(s) at least 30 days prior to those changes taking effect, and we will notify you of any changes to the current Subscription fees in advance of any Subscription renewal (including automatic renewals) by e-mail or other durable medium (“Renewal Fee”). Price changes do not apply to existing Subscription periods, but take effect upon renewal (including automatic renewal).

For example, if you purchased a 12-month Subscription which starts and renews on 1 January each year and we update the Subscription fees in July, your Subscription will not be affected until your renewal in January, at which point it will be charged at the Renewal Fee. If you do not agree to the Renewal Fee, you may cancel your Subscriptionarrow-up-right (see "Cancellations" below). If you do not cancel your Subscription before the Renewal Fee takes effect, your Subscription will be renewed subject to the Renewal Fee.

We reserve the right to charge you for any unauthorised use of your Subscription by third parties.

Cancellations

Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time. If you took out your Subscription via Jagex, you may cancel your Subscription at any time by following the instructions herearrow-up-right or by visiting the Account management section on the menu screen of the Jagex Product. If you have any difficulty in cancelling your Subscription, you can raise a ticket with Player Support by clicking herearrow-up-right. If you took out your Subscription via a third party, such as Apple, Google or Steam, you can cancel your Subscription at any time via the third party you signed up with. If you cancel your Subscription outside of a relevant cooling-off period, you'll keep your Subscription benefits until the expiry date of the current Subscription term. Unless required by law, no payments already made in respect of Subscriptions (including advance Subscription payments made with periods remaining unused) or virtual currencies or items will be refunded (wholly or partly). If you cancel your Subscription less than 72 hours before expiry, you may still be charged and you may need to contact us for a refundarrow-up-right.

Once your Subscription has expired, if no payment has been made to extend this, your Account will revert to a free-to-play account & you will lose your Subscription benefits.

Right of withdrawal

In certain territories, you may be entitled to request a refundarrow-up-right within 14 days of purchase of your Subscription.

Trial period cancellations

You will not be charged any Subscription fees if you cancel your Subscriptionarrow-up-right at any time during a free trial period. Depending on the length of your trial period, we will send you a reminder a reasonable period before the final day of your trial period. If you do not cancel before the final day, you will be charged the first Subscription amount.
