Report 2017-2018
Jagex recognises the importance of a diverse workforce that reflects our player base of millions around the world, and we are committed to promoting fairness and equality in the workplace.
There is much more to do, highlighted by our gender pay gap of 28.1%. This gap is not attributable to a pay equality issue at Jagex but speaks to a regrettable general lack of female representation impacting the wider games industry and specifically in some disciplines within the company, including leadership and STEM roles (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
We believe we have a joint responsibility, with our industry peers and the government, to encourage and attract more women into the gaming industry, and to the technology sector, so that in time we can address the gap. Over the last 12 months Jagex has engaged in several initiatives designed to support this goal, and has specifically made, and will continue to make, a concerted effort to ensure good female representation in the recruitment candidate pool. The best candidate will always be chosen, but greater representation increases the chances of improving our gender balance.
It is important to note that the government requires reports to be based on data as of 5th April 2018, meaning it is 12 months out of date at the time of publishing. Given our efforts over the last year and our continued focus on this area, we hope to see progress in this area in the future.
In summary, we continue to welcome the focus on this topic and more broadly believe every employee is entitled to an inclusive working environment that promotes dignity and respect to all, and one in which all employees are treated fairly and equally.
